Why 2023 could be the year for Arkansas Razorbacks football| News Article by bettingoddsforfree.com

The Arkansas Razorbacks have long been an overlooked football program. Residing in the SEC, they’ve been the conference punching bags for heavyweight schools such as the Auburn Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Florida Gators.

While they experienced a respectable amount of success for a short stretch under former Head Coach Bobby Petrino, since 2011 when they made a change from Petrino, they’ve heavily struggled to return to that level of relevance in the college football realm.

Since 2011, the Razorbacks have only had five winning seasons. Between 2017 and 2020, Arkansas failed to win more than four games in a campaign even once in that timeframe. Two of those years, they went without a single conference victory and only won two games overall.

It’s been over a decade of absolute misery for the Razorbacks and their fans, but it appears that new Head Coach Sam Pittman is determined to change the tides for Arkansas football.

Since he took over in 2020, the Razorbacks have gone 19-17 under his reign, including two straight winning seasons in a row after an abysmal 3-7 campaign in his first year with the program. Since then, though, he’s had Arkansas at 9-4 and 7-6, with two postseason victories in the Outback Bowl in 2021 and the Liberty Bowl last season.

But Pittman and the Razorbacks aren’t complacent with that level of success. Since last year’s Liberty Bowl, Arkansas has made major moves to improve its talent and put itself in a position to be a real player in the SEC to try to capture an elusive spot in the College Football Playoffs.

As of July 17th, the Razorbacks have landed 27 commits, including several high-profile recruits that have given them the 22nd-best class so far according to 247Sports. Adding four-star talents such as Jaylon Braxton out of Frisco, Texas and Shamar Easter out of Ashdown, Arkansas should give them quite the competitive edge in the upcoming season.

They’ve also landed several blue-chip prospects in the Class of 2024, as well. Not only do they have impressive freshmen lined up for the next two years, but they’ve also made quite the mark on the transfer portal to give them the best possible shot in the 2023 season.

Pittman has recruited highly coveted transfers such as Andrew Armstrong, Warren Thompson, and Ketron Jackson, all of whom signed in 2022 and will eligible for the Arkansas Razorbacks renaissance year this upcoming season.
