The Denver Nuggets will travel east to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 41-18 Nuggets are having an excellent season and have the best record in the Western Conference.
They currently hold a five-game lead over the second-place Memphis Grizzlies. On the other side, the 38-23 Cavaliers are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
They are only two games out of third and 2.5 games from falling into fifth, so a win today would be quite important.
The Nuggets are coming off a 118-109 win against the Dallas Mavericks. Jeff Green led the Nuggets with 24 points off the bench. He shot an efficient 11-16 from the field in 26 minutes.
Nikola Jokic also put on a show and finished with a 14-point, 13-rebound, ten-assist triple-double. Overall, the Nuggets shot much better than the Mavericks. They made 57.1% of their shots, compared to Dallas’ 46.4%.
The Cavaliers are coming off a 118-112 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. This loss ended their seven-game winning streak. Cleveland was down by 25 at halftime but did not give up in the third and fourth quarters.
They outscored Philadelphia by 19 points in the final 24 minutes, but it was not enough. Donovan Mitchell led all scorers with 33 points, and Darius Garland and Evan Mobley had 27 and 23 points, respectively. Cleveland shot well, but the 76ers were slightly stronger from behind the three-point line.
If this game were in Denver, I would pick the Nuggets. However, they are playing on the road, so I will go with the Cavaliers. Denver is a mediocre 14-14 on the road, while the Cavaliers are a dominant 25-6 at home. Those numbers are simply too skewed in Cleveland’s favor.
In case my first argument was not enough, I will add this. The Cavaliers have won seven of their last eight games. They lost their previous one, but it came down to the wire. Cleveland is firing on all cylinders and are really hot right now. Bet on the Cavaliers.
